Going deep with new technology

Nabors Drilling International has completed the building of one of two advanced deep water drilling rigs in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone. Both rigs use proprietory programmable electric drilling technology to allow faster and deeper drilling.
Rigs 54 and 200, built at the Lamprell yard in Jebel Ali, are designed specifically to meet deep gas exploration and development needs in the Middle East.
Siggi Meissner, President of Nabors, said: “The advances in technology in these revolutionary new rigs will allow our customers to drill safely deeper and faster than ever before.”
Following completion, they will each begin six month contracts and Nabors expects to secure multi-year contracts before the construction process is completed.
Nabors International, one of the largest drilling contractors in the Middle East, owns and operates almost 600 land drilling and approximately 900 land work-over and well-servicing rigs worldwide.
