Oil majors line up for deepwater forum
Posted: 13 January 2004
An elite group of some of the world’s most respected oil
and gas companies will gather together for a ground-breaking event
covering the offshore industry’s biggest growth area for new
reserves.
In what is fast becoming the premier strategic happening in the
upstream industry’s global deepwater calendar, speakers and
delegates will travel from all over the world to meet in London
on 12-13 February for Deepwater International 2004.
The theme for this year’s forum is ‘Strategies &
Opportunities – Breaking The Barriers’, which will highlight
and analyse the strategies employed and the opportunities created
by the oil industry and its stakeholders as the world’s established
and frontier deep and ultra-deepwater regions continue to blossom.
This cutting-edge interactive forum and networking event will feature
presentations and discussion sessions with individuals from the
highest echelons of the deepwater market.
Organised by Ogilvie Publishing Ltd., publishers of the Deepwater
International newsletter, speakers will illustrate the reasons why
the majority of the E&P industry’s majors and independents
continue to invest huge amounts of money in this sector in their
hunt for new reserves off Brazil, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico
and SE Asia.
The aim is to outline and share information on business strategies
and key technological advances being employed by industry stakeholders,
oil companies and oil services contractors as they seek to commercialise
projects in the deep and ultra-deepwater sector.
Of key importance is the involvement once again of some of the
world’s leading deepwater players, including Shell, BP, Unocal
and ChevronTexaco.
Exclusively, however, this year’s event will also gather
together some of the world’s most influential state-owned
majors and industry stakeholders, whose viewpoints play such an
important role in driving and dictating deepwater activity.
These include organisations such as the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation, Petrobras of Brazil and also Brazil’s National
Petroleum Agency, as well as the Nigeria-São Tomé
Joint Development Authority.
On top of this, also taking part will be some of the world’s
most respected and innovative contractors in this field, who are
developing state-of-the-art concepts within the floating production
and subsea sectors - especially those specifically aimed at lowering
the commercial threshold of deepwater projects.
You will not find a higher level of influential speakers at any
other deepwater event in one place at one time.
This event will once again take place in London’s exclusive
Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, running over two days (February 12-13).
“I am delighted that once again Deepwater International is
enjoying such visible support from the operators, contractors and
crucially the industry’s stakeholders, who play such a vital
role in setting the framework for the growth of the deepwater market.
No event can truly claim to cover the deepwater oil and gas industry’s
full spectrum of strategies and technologies without the participation
of each of these key participants,” said Mark Thomas, Chairman
of Deepwater International 2004.
