New model’s extended communication and superior
performance give FSC a new edge in handheld PDA’s
Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT company,
has consolidated its position in Personal Digital Assistants (PDA)
with the launch of Pocket LOOX 610, a virtual “portable office”
that allows for personal information management and mobile solutions
in a versatile and portable device.
The handheld offers a multitude of new technical features, including
the Intel XScaleTM PXA 255 processor and the Microsoft Windows Mobile
2003 for Pocket PCs operating system, thus turning it into a “pocket-sized
office” for which a large number of applications are already
available.
“The new Pocket LOOX 610 allows us the flexibility of synchronizing
databases, accessing corporate applications and the Internet, writing
e-mails while using an easy-to-carry handheld. An added benefit
is the new transflective TFT TouchScreen which offers an image presentation
that is extremely clear, whether outdoors or indoors,” said
Susanne Lewitzki, Product Marketing Manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
“The features are designed in such a way to make the user
feel he is working in an office. The new Pocket LOOX is a remarkable
advancement on the earlier models.”
The Pocket LOOX 610 BT/WLAN features extensive communication functions
with fully integrated Bluetooth, and fast infrared interfaces. It
comes with integrated wireless LAN thus enabling users to send and
receive e-mails with great ease, manage their contacts and appointment
books and access customer data online. Users can also take advantage
of the CF card to access their corporate data via GPRS.
“Wireless technology is driving IT development across the
globe. In the Middle East, we have seen a considerable increase
in demand for handhelds and PDAs. The launch of Pocket LOOX 610
is in direct response to the market needs. It also supports FSC
focus on Mobility and Business Critical Computing as the key drivers
and enablers of Information Technology in today’s age,”
added Lewitzki.
The new battery concept used in Pocket LOOX 610 allows customers
to stay away from any power source for longer periods of time. In
addition, during battery changes, an integrated buffer ensures that
the power supply continues to flow for up to 30 minutes. The exchangeable
main battery offers up to 12 hours operating time. If needed, an
optional battery XL is able to expand the operating time to 20 hours.
The flexible connectivity concept allows the implementation of
mobile applications such as SAP server data access, secure VPN solutions
and mobility solutions based on thin clients. Moreover, the open
system architecture of the Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PCs operating
system allows the use of many third-party applications, such as
auto-navigation and database systems. The integrated extension slots
pave the way for a variety of applications already on the market
that make use of CF and SD/MM cards, including barcode scanners,
cameras, storage solutions or GPS navigation solutions.
