contributions to the instrumentation, systems and automation community
and for continued dedication to the ideals of ISA.
The Instrumentation Society of America (ISA) is the world's
foremost industry organization representing the interests of measurement
and control systems and equipment.
Judy G. Stevenson is owner and president of Magnetrol International.
Magnetrol, a pioneer in the level control instrument industry, traces
its origin to 1932.
The company grew from a three-man boiler room systems operation
in Chicago to a multi-million dollar operation with more than 450
employees worldwide. Ms. Stevenson joined Magnetrol as a part-time
bookkeeper in 1964.
In her first year of employment, she rose to accounting supervisor
and to accounting manager a year later. In 1967, she was elected
treasurer and administrative vice president. Ms. Stevenson became
president of the company in 1975. And in 1978, 14 years after coming
to Magnetrol in a part-time clerical position, Ms. Stevenson bought
the company.
Under Ms. Stevenson's leadership, Magnetrol has prospered because
of her aggressive commitment to research and development, new products,
new technologies, training, and progressive and creative thinking.
Magnetrol's success is also the result of its people-oriented culture
and strong emphasis on the family.
Magnetrol gradually expanded its production facility & administration
in Downers Grove, Chicago and opened sales offices in Canada, Brasil
and China. A European Headquarters and manufacturing unit was founded
in Belgium in 1975. Sales offices were opened in UK, France, Germany,
Italy, UAE and India. Furthermore, Magnetrol is supported by over
200 representatives worldwide.
In an ongoing effort to strive for innovation and quality, companies
were acquired or new factories were built. As a result, Ms. Stevenson
is also the owner of Innovative Solutions, STI Controls, Orion Instruments
and Introtek. Since 1988 Magnetrol is an ISO 9001 certified company.
In addition to her duties at Magnetrol, Ms. Stevenson serves on
the Board of Trustees at North Central College. She is a member
of Chief Executive Officers Club and the National Association of
Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
Ms. Stevenson was named the YWCA Businesswoman of the Year in DuPage
County in 1985, the YWCA Outstanding Woman Leader of Dupage County
in 1997, and was recognized as leader of one of the Top 500 Women-Owned
Businesses in the country by Working Woman magazine (1998 - 2001).
