Fujitsu Siemens launches entry-model PRIMERGY server

Posted: 20 January 2004

PRIMERGY TX150 SATA represents FSC’s success in integrating the Serial ATA technology into servers

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT vendor has launched an entry-model server integrating the new Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA). The launch of the PRIMERGY TX150 SATA server makes FSC the first supplier to integrate the innovative hot-plug SATA technology into a server.

“Fujitsu Siemens Computers has yet again enhanced the price-performance ratio in the area of entry-level server towers, with the launch of the PRIMERGY TX150 SATA,” said Colin Britto, Sales Manager Large Enterprises, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “It has been designed to meet the demand for smaller servers with better performance, reliability and adaptability. It brings great value addition to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) that are looking for affordable solutions that simplify the implementation, administration, backup and customisation of data storage. It also represents the shift towards serial technology, as opposed to parallel technology.”

SATA is set to replace the current Integrated Drive Electronics/parallel ATA (IDE/P-ATA) standard thus becoming the new interface standard, that enhances the advantages of the inexpensive ATA hard disks.

Its functional range, performance capacity and integration of advanced technologies make the PRIMERGY TX150 SATA the server of choice for SMEs and Large Enterprises. This compact and cost-effective server can be used as a file and print server, a web server or a communication server for gateways, domains and firewalls. The new system offers a high-performance bandwidth and relative to IDE/P-ATA, better extendibility and innovative features for traditional areas of business as well as industry and office applications.

The universal PRIMERGY TX150 SATA mono server with an IntelR Pentium™ 4 Processor offers a distinct price advantage over Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) solutions, as two SATA hard disks (up to four are possible) can be purchased for the price of one comparably sized SCSI disk. In addition, this server delivers reliability, reduced down times and perfect scalability, since the data is protected by RAID 1 controllers and the hot-plug capability of the hard disks.

The onboard server management controller offers extensive functions in conjunction with the ServerView suite from FSC. Remote management allows the system to be switched on and off via the LAN, while the remote console can also be diverted using the LAN, even when the operating system is no longer available.
