Upgraded well visualisation software features parametric
search capabilities and custom icon creation
AnTech Oilfield Software, a division of engineering design and
manufacturing company AnTech Ltd, announced a major upgrade to StringView
Millennium.
StringView Millennium is AnTech’s well visualisation software
program that can interface with existing IT programs to produce
custom reports and well diagrams of a broad range of wells.
StringView Millennium is part of the AnTech suite of string drawing
and reporting software packages, including StringView Millennium
SDK and StringView Online LE.
Users can download and evaluate the new version by visiting www.stringview.com.
Since its launch in 2001, well engineers have been using StringView
Millennium to create outstanding well diagrams and reports. They
can now produce better, customised diagrams even faster.
Users will be pleased to learn that the program has been substantially
improved, offering a number of new capabilities. They are:
- integrated tool editing makes it possible for users to create
custom icons from scratch or by modifying an existing tool from
the StringView library.
- new parametric search facility allows users to search for tools
using any of the tool’s properties, saving time and effort.
For example, search for all tools with an OD of 3”.
- the improved user interface means that it is much easier to
access the specific activities the individual user carries out
most often. For example, string and tool properties may now be
accessed in a window of the screen.
- printing speeds have been dramatically increased, with the installation
of the new printing algorithm.
- new snap-to-grid capability means that placement of tool strings
is much more precise.
“Overall, the new StringView Millennium offers greater speed
and an expanded range of capabilities, while retaining its ability
to embed seamlessly into any existing IT application,” said
Toni Miszewski, Managing Director of AnTech. “From a creative
standpoint, the ability to develop completely original icons or
customise existing tools from the StringView portfolio or user’s
existing library is a major step forward. Combined with the new
search facility, access to the user’s most frequent activities,
snap-to-grid and faster print speed, well engineers can now produce
diagrams and reports with greater originality in even less time,”
he added.
Use of Existing Data and Imagery Saves Time and Money
StringView Millennium is used to draw the full range of wells, while
allowing the user to apply their own data. Data may be extracted
directly from an existing database and combine it with the component
library to produce a well diagram, complete with logos and data
tables reflecting the user’s designated company product. User-defined
parameters may be added to contain existing data in any style, and
the well diagram may be modified according to that data. At a deeper
level, users can create well component images from their own engineering
drawings. Alternatively, AnTech is happy to provide this service
upon request.
Technical Specifications
StringView Millennium is built around ActiveX technology, using
the latest Microsoft operating systems and a full WYSIWYG graphical
user interface. To utilise StringView Millennium, the user must
operate the following: a PC-compatible computer with 800MHz processor
or equivalent and Microsoft Windows, NT4, ME, 2000 or XP operating
systems. There must be a minimum of 96MB RAM, 40MB of free space
on the hard disk and at least SVGA 1024 x 768 @ 256 colour graphics.
