Emirates Petroleum Products Company — EPPCO — has received
The Dubai Human Development Award 2003 for its commitment to Emiratisation
and excellence in trading.
In a glittering ceremony held at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Hotel
on 28 February, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, rewarded
the ten year-old marketer of petroleum and related products and
services for its outstanding employment achievements
EPPCO, a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company LLC (ENOC),
pioneered customer-centric service stations throughout Dubai and
the Northern Emirates — where ENOC/EPPCO now operate a network
of 169 service stations.
Group Chief Executive and Board Member of ENOC/EPPCO, Hussain Sultan,
said: “This award is a major milestone on EPPCO and ENOC’s
continuous journey to become the Energy Partner of Choice.
“As a wholly-owned Government of Dubai company, ENOC’s
core aims are to achieve operational excellence and deliver convenience,
service and value to all our customers. A crucial tenet of this
aim includes the recruitment, development and retention of a highly
skilled and competent UAE national workforce.”
The Dubai Human Development Award aims to reward companies which
demonstrate awareness and understanding of the necessity for, and
requirement to develop, a UAE national workforce, coupled with tangible
results stemming from training and development programmes.
“From the Group’s outset, UAE nationals have played
a major role in ENOC and EPPCO’s development and success.
Now, we intend to increase that involvement; to make ENOC and EPPCO
the employers of choice for UAE nationals. This prestigious recognition
from the Dubai Quality Group will attract UAE nationals of the high
calibre we need,” said the Chief Executive.
Dubai Economic Department instituted the Dubai Human Development
Award in 2003, under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid. The award is given in two categories and spans
the seven economic sectors of financial services, trading, construction,
professional, services, tourism and manufacturing.
EPPCO was awarded for the trading category. Applications are considered
by the Supreme Committee of the Dubai Quality Award, with potential
award winning applications placed before HH Sheikh Mohammed for
his final consideration and approval.
The Dubai Quality Award is also presented during the same ceremony.
Winning companies receive a trophy and a certificate stating the
achievement.
The Dubai Human Development Award Winners for 2002 were DUBAL,
National Bank of Dubai and Kanoo Group.
