Graphics introduces the engineer's desktop
Posted: 3 March 2004
Integrated technologies to improve well design, real-time
operations and engineering workflows
Landmark Graphics Corporation, a wholly owned business unit of
Halliburton, released The Engineer's Desktop, a new integration
platform for drilling and completions and production operations
workflows.
The Engineer's Desktop provides a comprehensive suite of well design,
real-time operations, field surveillance and economic tools in a
common data management environment. For the first time, E&P
companies can now easily integrate engineering workflows, enabling
them to reduce planning cycle time, drill better, safer wells and
optimize well and overall field production.
"As the digital oil field becomes a reality, integration of
key workflows across drilling, production and economics will enable
customers to optimize management of their field operations,"
said Andy Lane, president, Landmark. "The release of The Engineer's
Desktop, establishes Landmark as the leader in providing integrated
drilling, completions and production engineering applications to
the E&P industry. We are now able to uniquely meet customer
needs for streamlined engineering work processes, making Landmark
the only company to offer this breadth of data coverage and application
capabilities on one integrated platform."
The Engineer's Desktop combines the capability of the Drilling
Desktop(TM), released last year, with production and economics.
This leading technology brings together for the first time, drilling,
field operations, have never been tied together before, yet never
has it been more critical that operators maximize return on their
investments as they venture into more hostile environments or push
to achieve maximum recovery from mature fields.
The Drilling Desktop, a critical component of the Engineer's Desktop,
has new capabilities that allow cross-domain analysis enabling drilling
engineers to achieve better wellbore placement, greater levels of
efficiency and reduced drilling costs.
The Drilling Desktop features powerful new data management, visualization,
engineering and query capabilities. This unique functionality will
help deliver superior well performance through integrated engineering,
reporting and analysis work processes, while also driving significant
time saving efficiencies to well operations teams across the enterprise.
"The Engineer's Desktop is extending value across the E&P
digital value chain, bringing a much needed integration to engineering
and operations, in the same way that OpenWorks and its supporting
technologies succeeded in improving the workflows of the geoscience
community," said Murray Roth, executive vice president, Systems
and Marketing. "The Engineer's Desktop, with its real-time
links, will enable operators to drill safer, more effective wellbores,
track production, reduce well downtime, promote rapid intervention
design, and validate decisions through economic analysis, thus driving
overall well performance and field profitability."
