Legrand
embarks on regional roadshow for contractors, electrical retailers
Posted: 9 March 2004
Electrical products and systems giant, Legrand, has embarked on
a GCC-wide roadshow aimed at familiarizing contractors and electrical
products retailers with the broad range of Legrand products and
providing them hands-on training.
The roadshow kicks-off at 10am at the Sofitel City Centre, Dubai,
on Wednesday (March 10) and continues in April with stops in Abu
Dhabi on April 21, followed by Doha on April 28, Muscat on May 3,
and Kuwait City on June 23.
Among the items to be displayed at the exhibition on March 10 are
Legrand’s most popular products in the Middle East, namely
the Milac, Model and Mosaic ranges of switches and sockets, the
Plexo 55 range of weatherproof switches and sockets and the Plexo
weatherproof boxes, cable clip and cable ties, terminal strips,
chimes, intercom systems and miniature circuit breakers.
The company, which achieved a 44 per cent growth in the UAE in
2003, is focused on increasing market trust in the brand and will
push forward with this through greater customer interaction at various
levels. “The potential in the regional market, especially
in the construction sector, is unbelievable and we see our products
increasingly meeting local demand,” said Mohammed Ahmed-Yahia,
Area Manager, Legrand.
Legrand established its Dubai office in Jebel Ali Free Zone in
1996. The office today oversees the company's operations in the
UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. In addition to this, the establishment
of Legrand Customer Centres in the emirates and other parts of the
GCC makes the company strategically placed to capitalize on the
projected regional demand for electrical products and systems.
To further realise its regional ambitions, Legrand, which works
regionally through agents or authorised distributors, aims to boost
its reach by building a network of sub-dealers in different parts
of the GCC through the establishment of Legrand ‘corners’
or branded areas within electrical stores.
“The idea is to address needs — wherever they are.
What we’re also presenting retailers is the opportunity to
offer their customers a single stop for all their electrical requirements,”
Ahmed-Yahia said. He added that Legrand is looking to partner with
a limited number of retailers in establishing its network and each
association formed will follow a rigorous selection process.
