EPPCO
makes goodwill fire fighting gesture to Fujairah Civil Defence
Posted: 21 March 2004
In a move aimed at demonstrating its commitment to the communities
it serves, Emirates Petroleum Products Company (EPPCO) LLC, has
donated a fire-fighting foam trolley to Fujairah Civil Defence.
The equipment was handed over to Colonel Juma Saif Al Ghashemi,
Director of Fujairah Civil Defence, by Zaid Al Qufaidi, Chief Operating
Officer, EPPCO.
“This contribution serves a dual purpose,” said Hussain
Sultan, Group Chief Executive and Board Member of EPPCO’s
holding company, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) LLC. “It
helps develop good relations with the Civil Defence and is part
of our commitment to a community programme.”
EPPCO has previously donated similar equipment to the civil defence
organizations in Dubai and Sharjah.
“This was a much up-dated version,” explained Sultan.
“The 500 gallon capacity foam tank can pump up to 20 gallons
a minute, enabling it to quickly replenish a fire truck while fighting
a fire which will improve fire fighting efficiently.”
Other major advantages of the new foam truck are that the trolley
pumps can empty the plastic foam container to the tank in just a
few minutes while the fire fighter can use the trolley pump to deliver
foam direct to the foam monitor.
“The contributionis a first step in strengthening ENOC and
EPPCO’s relations with the Government of Fujairah,”
explained Sultan. “For the future, we plan to jointly conduct
various safety training programmes and are also planning a joint
fire drill.”
