Offshore
Europe – New Leader, New Name
Posted: 6 April 2004
The Offshore Europe Partnership is delighted to announce that Andrew
Gould, Chairman and CEO of Schlumberger, has accepted the role of
Chairman of OE2005, the Eastern Hemisphere’s premier oil and
gas event.
His appointment coincides with the partnership’s own ongoing
efforts to continually improve and progress the show, with the announcement
of a new name and logo for Offshore Europe. Henceforth the event
will be branded ‘OE’.
“I am very pleased to have been invited to chair the 2005
conference, and look forward to lively debate on the issues facing
the offshore industry as deepwater and subsea activities increase,
and as the European stage expands”, commented Mr Gould.
Global Reach
A delighted Nik Rudge, Project Director, OE 2005, commented: “Having
an internationally respected conference chairman is indicative of
the global reach of OE 2005 and it reflects the evolving nature
of the show and the change in designation from Offshore Europe to
OE.
Regarding the new name and logo, Mr Rudge said it now symbolised
the changed nature of ‘Offshore Europe’. He said: “After
30 years, Offshore Europe has evolved significantly beyond its North
Sea/UKCS roots, attracting visitors from 104 different countries
around the world in 2003. The new branding reflects the changed
nature of OE and its position as the Eastern Hemisphere’s
premier oil and gas conference and exhibition. Whilst OE still signifies
Offshore Europe, it also symbolises Offshore Excellence and Offshore
Expertise and that is what the event is all about.”
OE 2005, to be held once again in September next year, is already
50 per cent booked with confirmed attendance from key companies
such as Shell EP, Total E&P UK Plc, Saudi Aramco, Halliburton,
Schlumberger, FMC and The Wood Group.
- A total of 26,337 visitors came to Aberdeen over four days to
attend Offshore Europe 2003.
- With confirmed contract deals totalling more than US $325 million
announced or signed at the show, the most floor space ever taken,
and more conference attendees than ever before, Offshore Europe
2003 was rightly credited as the “best ever”.
- The event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre
featured more than 1,400 exhibitors from 34 countries.
- There were many high-level delegations in attendance, with nine
having ministerial presence. These included visits by officials
from Azerbaijan, Canada, Egypt, Australia, Morocco, Venezuela
and Mauritania
