Engineering contractor Technip/NPCC selects Experion PKS
for
North East Bab project
Honeywell Process Solutions today announced that it has been selected
by Technip/NPCC for a comprehensive automation solution involving
Honeywell's Experion(tm) Process Knowledge System (PKS) and Fail
Safe Controller (FSC).
The contract will be implemented at the North East Bab (NEB) Phase
1 Development Project for the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations
(ADCO).
"We selected Honeywell for DCS, ESD and Fire and Gas systems
because of the local support and the state of the art Experion system;
benefits include lower cost of ownership and more efficient plant
operation," a spokesperson from ADCO said.
ADCO is currently implementing the NEB Phase 1 Development Project
at the Al Dabb'iya and Rumaitha Fields. Technip/NPCC is responsible
for the engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning
of optimum surface facilities for the project.
The new processing facilities will handle oil, gas and water production
from the field. They will be designed to minimally impact the environment
and will address health, safety and operational concerns.
Technip/NPCC chose Honeywell because of its large customer base
and excellent facilities in the UAE.
The NEB project required Honeywell to provide a combined package
of a distributed control system (DCS) and an emergency shutdown
system (ESD).
Honeywell's automation solutions include engineering, material
supply and services for the DCS with remote I/Os; ESD; fire and
gas systems (FGS); SCADA server for the interface with cluster PLC's;
and a network-capable instrument maintenance system. The control
points will be the main control center of Al Dabb'iya and the local
control centre of Rumaitha.
