organises ninth annual Asia Oil & Gas conference AOGC 2004

PETRONAS is pleased to announce that it will organise the ninth
annual Asia Oil and Gas Conference (AOGC 2004) from 13 to 15 June
2004 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
This annual conference, co-managed by the Asian Strategy and Leadership
Institute and the Conference Connection Inc., is expected to be
officiated by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi.
Themed "Asia Oil and Gas: Rising to New Challenges",
the conference will focus on and evaluate prospects and challenges
faced by the oil and gas industry amidst the fast changing scenario,
address developments in the global geopolitical and economic scenarios
with much emphasis on Asia and its implication to the oil and gas
industry. Strategies for new ventures and development, key challenges
facing the upstream and downstream sectors, innovations in trading
and risk management and financing and new technology options will
be the main focus areas in the conference.
Among the prominent international speakers who will be sharing
and discussing their views and thoughts are Sir Jeremy Greenstock,
the UK Special Representative for Iraq who will deliver a Special
Address, and Mr David J. O'Reilly, Chairman and CEO of ChevronTexaco
Corporation, USA, will deliver the State-of-the-Industry-Address.
Other notable speakers include Dr Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Minister
of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia, who is also the President
of the OPEC Conference; Mr Abdulaziz F. Al-Khayyal, Senior Vice
President (Refining, Marketing & International), Saudi Aramco;
Mr J. Robert Collins, President, NYMEX; Mr Kng-Kyun Oh, Chairman/President
& CEO, KOGAS; Dato' Shamsul Azhar Abbas, Vice President, Exploration
and Production Business, PETRONAS; Mr Thomason R. Langford, Managing
Director, Morgan Stanley; and Dato' Sri Lim Haw Kuang, President,
Shell Oil Products-East, Singapore.
Dr Fereidun Fesharaki of FACTS Inc., USA, who is already very synonymous
with the conference, will provide some updates on the future oil
and gas industry. Prominent senior officials from oil and gas companies
and related research and consultancy organisations will also be
presenting their views.
This annual conference, first held in 1996, is Asia's premier oil
and gas gathering which has attracted more than 6,000 participants
in its eight-year history. Delegates consisted of representatives
from the mainstream oil industry such as oil and energy executives,
economists, bankers, investment analysts, brokers, traders, service
providers as well as government officials and representatives.
The event also enjoys a strong support from industry players like
PETRONAS, ChevronTexaco, ExxonMobil, Shell, ConocoPhillips, and
Mitsubishi Corporation.
This year, the conference is expected to attract more than 800
participants from around the globe, and it will continue to offer
participants outstanding opportunities for networking, interaction
and exchanging of ideas and knowledge with the who's who in the
oil and gas industry.
