The ideal opportunity for an update on Caspian region developments
Throughout its 11-show history the programme at the Caspian Oil
and Gas Exhibition and Conference has been acclaimed and acknowledged
as the ideal means for all requiring an annual update on oil and
gas activities in the region.
The conference programme at Caspian Oil & Gas 2004 (1-4 June,
Baku, Azerbaijan) lives up to expectations with over forty presentations
being made by high level speakers from leading operating, contracting
and supply companies, regional state oil and gas companies, ministerial
representatives as well as senior representatives from the major
international funding agencies under the overall theme of ‘New
Targets and Opportunities to Fulfil Global Energy Demand’.
The conference itself takes place on 2 and 3 June and the exhibition
runs 1-4 June with the morning of Tuesday 1 June devoted to the
official opening ceremony by HE Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic
of Azerbaijan and visiting overseas ministers and dignitaries, who
tour the exhibition after the opening ceremony.
This year’s conference is co-chaired by HE Dr Medjid Kerimov,
Minister for Fuel and Energy, Republic of Azerbaijan and The Rt
Hon Brian Wilson, MP, the UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative
on Overseas Trade and UK Energy Minister from 2001-2003.
Day 1 of the conference
The whole of Wednesday 2 June is devoted to ‘The role of the
latest Caspian Region energy industry production and transportation
plans in fulfilling global energy demand – an update on current
developments and future planning options’ and involves keynote
addresses from ministers and senior personnel from Azerbaijan, Brazil,
Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkey, involved with all
key developments throughout the region (see attached conference
programme for full information).
“Interest levels in the Region are at their peak and is reflected
in the number who have pre-registered to attend from over 40 countries
thus far,” says Susan Crouch MBE, Chairman of Caspian Events
Ltd who organise the annual show in partnership with the Azerbaijan
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Overall illustrations of activity combined with detailed
updates by companies actively working in the region ensure that
everyone goes away with a true picture of current activity, results
and future plans for major on and offshore developments and on key
means of oil and gas transportation such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan
pipeline and the South Caucasus pipeline.”
Busy second day
The second day of the conference is devoted to two themes ‘Caspian
Regional Development – the role and strategic objectives of
public sector multi-lateral organisations and regional and local
economic impact’ and ‘Caspian Regional energy industry
development needs – technology, operations and maintenance’
with this second session of the day divided into three parts. The
first of them asks the question ‘Making local content a reality
– or is this a naturally evolving process?’; the second
looks at ‘The work of local companies in association with
foreign companies’; and the final part of the afternoon considers
‘Caspian Region forward supply/re-export issues’.
Once again the conference is free of charge in order to encourage
maximum participation by local and international personnel involved
in the oil and gas industry. The programme on the website at www.caspianoilgas.co.uk
is constantly updated
Packed exhibition
The intense activity throughout the Region, and particularly in
Azerbaijan, is reflected in the number of companies who have reserved
space at this year’s Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition.
This year’s event features a record number of companies with
offices now well established in Azerbaijan but now an increasing
number eager to establish themselves to service the long term market
opportunities in operations and maintenance, as well as the omnipresent
construction activity ; international country pavilions (many of
which are government-supported) in ever greater numbers from countries
including France, UK, Germany, Iran, Norway, USA, Finland and Italy;
as well as an increasing number of local independent SME’s,
some of whom will be represented on their own Azerbaijan National
pavilion for the first time.
A 25% increase in the size of the event over last year is now anticipated.
The current list appears on the website at www.caspianoilgas.co.uk
and is constantly updated
Registration open
Online registration is at www.caspianoilgas.co.uk
