Schlumberger
introduces new well control system

New SenTREE HP delivers reliability and versatility in
challenging environments
Schlumberger Oilfield Services announced the availability of SenTREE
HP (High Performance), which enables the well testing and completion
of exploration, appraisal and development subsea wells in challenging
environments.
SenTREE HP is latest addition to the market-leading SenTREE family
of subsea completion and test trees that provide subsea well control
during completion and well testing operations in subsea wells in
water depths up to 10,000 ft. SenTREE HP has a large bore (6 3/8")
and a working pressure rating of 15,000 psi.
“SenTREE HP delivers reliability and versatility, as it serves
exploration, appraisal and the development well market,” said
Zaki Selim, president, Well Completions & Productivity (WCP),
Schlumberger Oilfield Services.
Although primarily used in concert with horizontal subsea production
Christmas tree technology in the development market, it can also
be brought into service where conventional trees are the choice
when the completion type and methodology permit.
Schlumberger is working with a major operator in the Gulf of Mexico
on an extended well test where SenTREE HP will form a critical part
of the subsea well control system.
To complement the SenTREE HP, the existing field-proven Commander*
telemetry in-riser controls will be upgraded to match the SenTREE
HP operating envelope. These Commander control systems provide a
15-second response time to shut in the well and disconnect the landing
string regardless of water depth. Fourteen well completion and intervention
operations in water depths up to 7200 ft. already have been successfully
completed. With three more systems on order, Commander telemetry
controls represent the only field-proven equipment of its type.
“The combination of SenTREE HP and the upgraded commander
controls will provide clients the technology and proven service
capability that is required to develop the myriad of deepwater high-pressure
prospects that will surface in the coming years in both the Gulf
of Mexico and other parts of the world,” said Selim.
SenTREE services are an integral part of the WCP completion offering
and can be contracted in association with the well completion system
and the surface well test or clean up package. By identifying clear
lines of responsibility and by contracting complimentary technologies
and services the planning and execution of such projects become
more effective and efficient.
