Group goes live on Linux with Oracle to reduce costs and improve
efficiencies

Oracle E-Business Suite and Collaboration Suite at the
core of the initiative
Oracle Corporation, the world’s largest enterprise software
company, announced that Samim Group, an Abu Dhabi trading group
of companies, has selected Linux as the deployment platform for
Oracle E-Business Suite which will centralise and streamline the
company’s financial systems and distribution activities
The comprehensive automation initiative includes Oracle Purchasing,
Oracle Order Management, Oracle Inventory, Oracle Financials, Oracle
Manufacturing, and Oracle HRMS creating cross-functional synergies
and greater financial visibility across its different lines of business.
The group intends to automate its external and internal systems,
increasing employee productivity and overall cost control. The company
is also deploying Oracle Collaboration Suite on Linux to enhance
collaboration between its employees, suppliers, partners and customers
via Oracle Collaboration Suite’s email, file management and
calendaring capabilities.
Samim Group has also selected Oracle Collaboration Suite to create
an integrated messaging and collaboration infrastructure to provide
email, voicemail, fax, calendaring, and file-sharing capabilities.
The Oracle environment will run on the Linux platform, which Samim
Group opted for based on its associated lower total cost of ownership,
improved reliability and security.

To improve customer delivery times and general service levels,
Oracle E-Business Suite will enables Samim Group to link supply

Increased business intelligence will enable the trading group to
better understand customer trends and buying patterns to create
more tailored products and services for its target markets.
The Oracle Collaboration Suite is set to boost employee ease and
efficiency of communication. The solution integrates messaging,
calendaring, file sharing, real-time communications, wireless access,
calendar and time management, and voicemail and fax services, enabling
the company’s sales force to communicate with different offices
and the production facility to ensure that customer requirements
are met.
