chief executive appointment at Advantica

International technology and systems solutions company, Advantica,
is pleased to announce that Ron Chapman has been appointed as Chief
Executive Officer, with effect from 1 May 2004, following the retirement
of former chief executive, John Bennett.
Having joined the company in 2001 as Head of Strategic Development,
Chapman, 45, has more than 25 years of energy and related industry
experience and most recently served as Advantica's Senior Vice President
of Strategy and Solutions. Prior to this, Chapman held a number
of Senior Business Development and Technical positions in Scottish
Power and Southern Water.
Advantica is part of National Grid Transco plc (NGT), with principal
offices in Loughborough, UK and Carlisle, Pennsylvania, US. It provides
services and products to energy and utility companies in the UK
and worldwide, and specialises in delivering safety audit, safety
management and pipeline technology, as well as asset integrity and
network performance solutions.
In accepting his appointment Chapman said, "I am delighted
to be asked to lead Advantica at this exciting stage in its development.
For the year ending 31st March the company, for the first time,
earned more revenue from companies outside the NGT Group. I look
forward to building on these successes, as Advantica continues to
grow a leading client base worldwide."
