Jacobs
serves as EPC Contractor for Project of the Year
Posted: 26 May 2004
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that a subsidiary company
participated in a Canadian heavy oil project that Alberta Construction
Magazine named "Project of the Year 2003."
Jacobs served as the engineering, procurement, and construction
contractor for Imperial Oil Limited's Cold Lake Project Phases 11-13
(Mahkeses Central Plant), a new bitumen production facility located
at Cold Lake, Alberta.
Completed without a lost-time injury with over 4 million hours
worked, this $650 million expansion, of which Jacobs participated
in $330 million, is Imperial Oil's latest installment in the longest
running mega-project in Alberta. Mahkeses also came in without major
delays or cost overruns, which Alberta Construction cited as the
main reason for the project's top ranking.
In the magazine's feature article, Imperial Oil's senior materials/service
advisor Ron Huculak said the company focuses on safety, predictable
performance, and flawless execution when choosing contractors.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Phil Stassi
stated, "This project was extremely challenging in terms of
both schedule and cost. In spite of the challenges, the team (Imperial,
Jacobs, and Ledcor) worked together to make this project a great
success. We are very proud of this accomplishment."
Jacobs, with over 35,000 employees and revenues approaching $5.0
billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services
globally.
