Energy Services wins three new pipeline and process contracts worth
over £1.5 million
Posted: 27 May 2004
The Aberdeen based company has secured their first contract in
the lucrative Australian market on the Moomba gas processing development
in the heart of the outback.
The gas processing and natural gas liquids facility, operated by
Santos and located in the Cooper Basin in the remote far north of
South Australia, supplies gas for New South Wales, Queensland, South
Australia and ACT. (Australian Capital Territory)
The contract with Oil and Gas Solutions and valued at more than
£200,000, involved the design of unique specialist vacuum
drying equipment which was controlled and monitored by hi-tech data
loggers.
PSL are also engaged in hydro-testing and pigging work in Surat,
north of Bombay on the west cost of India on behalf of Australian
contractor Clough Engineering.
The contract on the Hazira gas project is worth an estimated £200,000
and the workscope includes the pneumatic strength testing of flares,
pigging, gauging, flooding and hydro testing. PSL staff had to overcome
difficult tidal conditions during the project and received a commendation
from Clough Engineering following their performance in the challenging
environment.
PSL’s Asia Pacific team, led by newly appointed regional
manager Kenny Coutts, also secured a £1 million plus contract
for precommissioning work on the Cakerawala field in the Gulf of
Thailand for operator CTOC.
A 14-man PSL team will carry out precommissioning flange testing,
helium leak testing, flushing, hydro-testing, leak detection and
bolt tensioning.
Singapore based Mr Coutts said: “The Moomba contract represents
our first footprint in to the lucrative Australian market and is
a significant step forward in PSL’s internationalisation business
plan for the Asia Pacific Region.
“It was won on the back of our reputation as a niche contractor
who can respond quickly and innovatively to help clients resolve
a wide range of issues.
“I am also delighted to have won the Hazira and Cakerawala
contracts, which again highlight our resolve to take our excellent
products, equipment and skilled workforce in to new and challenging
markets.
“We have a very experienced team in place in Singapore and
our commitment speaks for itself following these recent successes.”
PSL’s managing director, Doug Duguid, added: “All three
contract wins are important because they underline our determination
to introduce our skills and expertise to new clients in markets
where we have previously not had a presence.
“We have now broken in to the Australian market for the first
time and our investment in setting up a base in Singapore with personnel,
including local development and our equipment, is already bearing
fruit.”
PSL Energy Services Ltd employs 240 staff at headquarters in Portlethen,
Aberdeen, and at bases at Great Yarmouth, Houston, Singapore, Baku
and Qatar.
Its core activities are well services, process, pipeline and excavation
services and inspection services and hydraulic work-overs.
