HP, International Information Techology Company and Microsoft
to maximise Windows environment for Oman LNG
Oman LNG announced it had chosen HP Global Services division to
provide the consultancy assistance in support of their migration
from NT4 domain to Windows 2003 Active Directory, Exchange 2003
and standardising the desktop platform to Windows XP.
HP will be working with International Information Technology Company
LLC (IITC) who will provide Microsoft trained engineers to assist
with the IT infrastructure upgrade and purchase the various Microsoft
licenses for all 350 users of OmanLNG.
HP has the largest Windows 2000 deployment in the world and customers
benefit from HPs internal experience which operates a global test
network that has been upgraded to Windows Server 2003.
This ensures that HP can test even the most complex scenarios before
deploying in customer environments. Oman LNG chose HP because no
other company offers the range of consulting and integration services
for Microsoft offerings and because of the large and experienced
Microsoft-trained workforce which presents superior talent and experience
to plan, design, implement, manage, license and support migration
to Window 200 and .NET solutions that reduce risk and accelerate
time-to solution.
“HP globally, has more accredited Microsoft Professionals
than any other Microsoft Solution Provider. This, together with
our understanding of Oman LNG’s other critical business systems,
makes us the ideal choice for a partner for this project. Our consultants
are experienced in deploying Windows 2003 technology in highly complex
environments. And in addition to our technical expertise, we also
have proven methodologies in the areas of architecture and deployment
of Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003,” said Herbert Zierl, Director,
Technology Solutions Group, HP Middle East.
IITC deployment will ensure that the new Windows environment is
tested and rolled-out to all OmanLNG users successfully and in a
satisfactory manner. IITC, being the most experienced Microsoft
CTEC in Oman will also deliver certified Microsoft training to Oman
LNG’s technical staff and customised end-user training to
OLNG users allowing them to migrate to the new environment quickly
and smoothly.
“We partnered with HP Global services to guarantee a smooth
and successful implementation of this project as HP follows a professional
and structured approach which is based on best practices and PMI
[Project Management Implementation] standards” confirms Jaykumar
S, GM of IITC.
Working on project of this size has been challenging for all partners
due to the complex IT environments that Liquefied Natural Gas companies
run on. However, the combined effort of HP Global Services and Microsoft’s
team of engineers have initiated a smooth beta implementation along
to ensure that Oman LNG will now be able to optimise there internal
systems and maximise output.
“We are confident that our partnership with HP Global Services
and Microsoft Consulting Services will allow us to successfully
complete the server and desktop migration in the shortest possible
timeframe. The target for OmanLNG is to be up and running with the
new environment before the end of this year” said Vikram Gautam,
Sales Manager of IITC.
