Wellstream to Showcase New Pipeline Technology for Onshore
Applications at Global Petroleum Show, Calgary June 8 – 10,
2004
Independent flexible pipe manufacturer, Wellstream International,
will be showcasing the newest member of its flexible pipe portfolio
at the Global Petroleum Show and Canadian International Petroleum
Conference 2004, Calgary.
This new product "Product N" represents,
for the first time, an unbonded flexible pipe that is ideally suited
to onshore oil and gas field applications as well as many other
fluid and gas transport applications.
This product, based on traditional flexible pipe technology, is
unique among flexible onshore pipes in its use of steel strips
to act as reinforcement layers. Its patented1 layered polymer and
steel construction provides superior corrosion resistance to internal
fluids and external environmental conditions. It is designed using
the methods and design factors of API 17J, an established offshore
flexible pipe specification based on decades of experience. A production
facility has been set up in Panama City, Florida, USA, to manufacture
this product. This facility will remain the focal point for continued
development while the first regional manufacturing facility will
be opened in Calgary or Edmonton during 2005.
Gordon Chapman, CEO Wellstream said of the product, "This
product provides Wellstream with an important addition to its product
portfolio. For the first time flexible pipe will be able to compete
effectively with onshore rigid pipe solutions and provide operators
and contractors with a robust lightweight spoolable product that
is extremely versatile."
Wellstream International Limited, founded in 1983, has a worldwide
reputation in the provision of high quality spoolable pipeline
products, systems and solutions to the offshore oil and gas sector.
Its
pipeline portfolio includes established product lines such as
dynamic flexible risers and static flowlines, for deep and ultra-deepwater
environments, in addition to newer products designed for onshore
and shallow water application and high temperature/high pressure
products for drilling and service applications.
In March 2003,
following a management buy-in, Wellstream is now an independently
owned company with offices/facilities in Newcastle upon Tyne,
U.K.,
Panama City and Houston, U.S.A., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and
Perth, Australia. For more information see www.wellstream.com
