Roxar
releases Irap RMS 7.3 - Redefining the cross discipline
shared earth model
Posted: 08 June 2004
Powerful, easy to use, multi-platform, asset team software delivers
major productivity
benefits to oil and gas companies world-wide
Roxar, the leading technology solutions provider
to the upstream oil and gas industry, today announced the launch of its advanced
integrated software solution, Irap RMS 7.3, for 3D reservoir interpretation and
asset evaluation.
Irap RMS 7.3 consists of a full suite of integrated software modules
including mapping, modelling, flow simulation, well planning and
workflow management tools designed to help geophysicists, geologists,
reservoir and drilling engineers to work together faster and more
easily, to increase productivity from existing fields and to shorten
the discovery-to-production lifecycle.
A major focus for Irap RMS 7.3 has been to simplify and speed
up clients’ standard workflows. As part of this goal, Roxar
delivers an extensive upgrade to its mapping solution that combines
ease-of-use with fast gridding algorithms in a modern integrated
3D interpretation environment. New to this release are comprehensive
log view and multi well viewer tools which form the foundation
of a complete well correlation solution.
Other key features include a series of ease-of-use enhancements;
improved data import and export, improved well and log handling
and better presentation tools.
Irap RMS 7.3 runs on Windows, Linux and Unix – on both desktop
and portable PCs. It will be shipped by the end of Q2 2004. From
the integration of well and seismic data through to 3D volumetrics
and 3D modelling, Irap RMS 7.3 provides an accurate, repeatable
and integrated workflow solution.
Roxar Software Solutions’ Managing Director, Mark Bashforth,
said,
“Roxar is committed to developing and supporting the best
3D reservoir interpretation software in the world. With new functionality
and hundreds of user enhancements, our latest solution will deliver
a significant return on investment to customers by empowering multi-disciplinary
teams to work together in real-time, increasing productivity and
efficiency.”
Key highlights of Irap RMS 7.3 include:
- New mapping tools – these enable faster gridding
and improved editing of key data. Irap RMS 7.3 delivers four
unique and very fast mapping algorithms designed to improve the
quality
of maps. 2D kriging has now also been added to the mapping toolbox.
- Structural
Uncertainty – this new, unique feature allows
structural uncertainty to be quickly and easily investigated
as a prospect ranking tool for the exploration phase or as decision
support at an early field development stage.
- Extended Workflow
Manager – providing a unique tool to
manage scenarios and batch all repetitive tasks that enable users
to build
and update reservoir models in minutes rather than hours. As
well as saving time, the Workflow Manager facilitates technology
and
skills transfer amongst the user community by the use of powerful
workflow templates.
- Ease-of-use enhancements – hundreds
of modifications and improvements have been made to strengthen
the user-friendly interface
and overall user experience. As well as more robust algorithms
and reorganized icon menus, data can now be imported and exported
more easily.
- Improved presentation tools – plotting and hardcopy printing
have been upgraded to make it even easier for teams to document
and share interpretations, to establish company standard templates
for plots and presentations, to display all types of input
data and output results in one common environment and to make
high
quality presentations.
Roxar provides software solutions and related services from its
global network of offices in Europe, Africa, the Americas, Middle
East, Asia Pacific and CIS. The Irap RMS software suite from Roxar
is widely recognized as the leading product for reservoir modelling,
and is now deployed with most major E&P companies world-wide.
About Roxar
Roxar AS is a leading international service provider of products
and solutions for optimizing production and maximizing recovery
from oil and gas reservoirs. The Company is organized and streamlined
for growth in its core business activities.
Roxar’s core competence lies in its understanding of reservoir
description and flow dynamics leading to individual well and field
production performance analysis. All of our products and services
generate continuous information of value to oil and gas companies
challenged with maximizing returns from their reservoir assets.
About Irap RMS
Roxar’s Irap RMS portfolio
consists of 9 interrelated modules including:
- RMSgeoform, which, through structural modelling and
property mapping, creates the basis for a company’s reservoir
model and its fluid flow performance;
- RMSgeoplex, which models
geologically realistic depositional environments through the
use of state of the art techniques;
- RMSgeomod, which provides
simple interpolation and entry level object-based modelling techniques
for reservoir characterization;
- RMSindicators, an alternative
facies modelling module that is a complement to RMSgeoplex and
is especially suited for mature
fields with 1f of well data or assets with high quality 3D seismic
data.
- RMSsimgrid, a high quality simulation pre/ post processor
which provides semi-automated, highly flexible and robust grid
generation;
- RMSflowsim, that integrates dynamic reservoir data
with the static model and offers, for the first time, black oil
flow simulation
together with the static reservoir model;
- RMSstream, which evaluates
reservoir models and helps define flow paths by the use of streamline
methods;
- RMSwellplan, the most user-friendly, efficient and comprehensive
well planning tool on the market today;
- RMSopen, a programming
toolkit that enables the integration of in-house or third party
applications into the Irap RMS environment.
