GAC appointed as ExxonMobil’s logistics partner for Middle East

Posted: 09 June 2004

GAC Logistics, part of the world’s largest independent shipping and logistics services provider, GAC Group, today signs a contract with ExxonMobil, to provide the petrochemical company with total logistics solution across the Middle East.

Taking the GAC & ExxonMobil partnership to next level
With the signing of the contract, GAC’s scope of services to ExxonMobil expands from the distribution of bulk lubricants in Fujairah to become a fully-fledged regional logistics operation providing ExxonMobil with seamless supply chain management, says Mr Dag Bore, General Manager, GAC Dubai, Logistics Services.

Describing the work as providing a ‘one-stop shop for logistics needs’, GAC takes on additional responsibility in inbound clearance of ExxonMobil’s internationally manufactured packaged lubricants, as well as stockholding and inventory management in GAC’s facilities in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Fujairah.

In addition to distribution of packaged lubricants alongside ExxonMobil client vessels or agents at all ports in the United Arab Emirates, GAC will also deliver directly to their clients throughout the Middle East region, including Oman, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.

Leveraging GAC’s combined expertise in shipping, logistics and marine
As a leading petrochemical company, ExxonMobil believes that getting its products delivered to customers in pristine condition is of paramount importance.

Says Mr Ridha Kacem, Supply and Distribution Manager, ExxonMobil Middle East, “GAC has demonstrated the capability to deliver a perfect shipment every time. In seeking a reliable logistics partner for this region, GAC naturally tops the list of contenders. We need a logistics partner like GAC who has the global network as well as a unique combination of expertise in shipping, logistics and marine services to understand the ExxonMobil customer.”

GAC Logistics’ integrated supply chain solution for ExxonMobil is expected to reap major benefits for the client, which include time- and cost-efficient distribution without any capital investment in costly equipment such as tail-lift trucks, specialist forklift drum clamps and quayside cranes, says Mr Bore. “In addition, having worked with us before, they know they can reply on GAC for top quality service at competitive prices.”
