Move aimed at developing Fujairah into major bunkering player
ENOC Bunkering (Fujairah) LLC (EBFL), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) Ltd, has contracted an additional 150,000 cubic metres of bunker storage capacity to become operational from January next year.
“This extra capacity is aimed at fulfilling our growth needs for the next three years,” explained Hussain Sultan, Group Chief Executive and Board Member, ENOC.
The additional land storage has been contracted from VOPAK-HORIZON Fujairah Limited (VHFL), a flagship joint venture between Holland 's VOPAK and Horizon Terminals Limited (HTL), a wholly-owned ENOC subsidiary.
EBFL has also committed to contracting one of two new bunker berths VHFL is currently constructing in Fujairah to improve facilities for terminalling customers.
“One berth will be dedicated for the exclusive use of EBFL's vessels,” said Sultan. “This long-term contract between these two companies underlines their joint commitment to creating a professional bunkering operation in Fujairah and developing the emirate as a major international bunker port.
“The additional terminal and storage capacity will also allow us to expand our leading local market share, which is currently producing annual sales in excess of 2 million tones and assist us going global with expansion into other geographic regions and meeting client demand.”
EBFL is a joint venture between ENOC, which hold 51 per cent of the equity, the Fujairah Government, which has a 25 per cent stake holding and Kuwait 's Independent Petroleum Group with the remaining 24 per cent. The joint venture provides off-shore and in-port marine products supply in Fujairah. The company operates the youngest fleet of its kind in the region with a current delivery capacity of 300,000 metric tonnes per month.
EBFL provides a range of bunkering and cargo services, including transportation, trans-shipment, storage, bunkering and marine fuel oil sales from its main office in Fujairah and ENOC branches overseas.
