GE selected to supply equipment for Finland oil refinery

Neste Engineering Oy of Porvoo, Finland has selected GE Energy to supply two hydrocracking reactors and three reciprocating compressors for the expansion of Fortum Oil Oy's refinery in Porvoo.
Weighing 1,000 tons, each reactor will be manufactured and shipped in a single piece from GE Energy's Massa, Italy plant. Both reactors will utilize the latest generation of vanadium modified materials.
The three compressors are of the "HG" series, the largest balanced opposed frame size available at GE Energy. Each features six cylinders and installed power in excess of 8,000 kilowatts. They will be manufactured and tested at GE Energy's Florence, Italy facility.
The compressors will be shipped in the first quarter of 2005 and the reactors in the second quarter of 2005. The oil refinery expansion is expected to begin commercial operation in 2006.
While this project marks GE Energy's first reciprocating compressor order for the Porvoo refinery, GE supplied two reactors for the facility in 1996.
