Pipeline Magazine has been selected as the official publication for Offshore Arabia 2004
Offshore Arabia 2004, an event that gives oil and shipping industry leaders the opportunity to interact and discuss various issues and concerns affecting the industry and the environment, takes place at the end of November 2004.
The event provides a platform to review past achievements and look at future industry directions. It will also focus on managing the changing sea environment as well as the protection of the offshore and onshore infrastructure.
Offshore Arabia 2004 is part of the Regional Clean Sea Organisation (RECSO) biennial conference covering topics on Coastal Protection, Marine Spill Prevention, Industrial Waste Management, Tankers Safety and its Operational Hazards in the Gulf Region and Best Practices to minimise its environmental impact.
“ Pipeline Magazine is proud to have been selected official publication for Offshore Arabia. Since its inception in 1995, Pipeline Magazine has been a forerunner in environmental issues in the Gulf, said Eileen Michael, publisher of the magazine. “We have a dedicated section in the magazine covering all aspects and issues concerning the environment. Our Excellence in Energy Awards focus on companies which have played a major part in protecting the environment in the region. Last year’s winner was Shell. We whole-heartedly support RECSO in its endeavour to minimise environmental impact.”
RECSO is committed to protecting the marine environment in the Gulf from oil pollution emanating from operations of its member oil companies in the region. Each member oil company shares the responsibility of ensuring a long-term commitment to the “ Clean Gulf” concept. RECSO helps co-ordinate efforts towards meeting this challenge.
“As a non-commercial oil operators’ association operating with a “ Clean Sea” concept, RESCO is pleased to have Pipeline Magazine as the official publication for this event. Every one of the marine-based organisations within the Gulf has to take responsibility to protect the sea for future generations,” said Khamis Juma Bu-Amim, Chairman, RECSO and Vice Chairman, Offshore Arabia 2004.
Held under the theme “Maintaining a Healthy Offshore” Offshore Arabia 2004 will examine issues related to the prevention and minimisation of damage to the marine environment. It will also focus on the major trends and challenges, proven best practices and the latest policy developments.
A concurrent exhibition will showcase the latest technologies for the prevention of oil spills and protection of infrastructure.
The conference and exhibition will be held from November 29 to December 1, 2004, at Dubai International Convention Center under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Minister of Defense - UAE.
The event is being organised by Saudi Aramco and RECSO, with a strong technical participation from IMO, UNESCO, UNEP, Shipping Association, International Oil Companies Association (IPIECA & OGP), ROPME, National Environmental Agencies, Shipping, Ports and Harbors.
