Weatherford to supply additional services for Front Runner Project

Weatherford International Ltd. will install the special alloy production tubing and accessories, and provide nitrogen services on the Front Runner field development project for Murphy Exploration & Production, Inc. The Front Runner field is located in the Gulf of Mexico’s Green Canyon, Block 338 in 3,300’ of water. The anticipated start date for the Front Runner completion program is August 2004.
The field will be developed with a Truss Spar, and will initially support (8) dry-tree surface completions. Weatherford’s Tubular Running Services group in Lafayette, LA will provide personnel and equipment for the tubing installation using Weatherford’s completion tools with Micro-Grip® non-marking technology. The tubing strings will consist of 4.5” and 3.5” 13CR110 special alloy tubing, and multiple electric/hydraulic control lines run simultaneously and attached to the tubing strings.
Weatherford’s Lafayette, LA Pipeline & Specialty Services group will provide nitrogen services for platform commissioning, pressuring buoyancy cans, and production riser evacuation.
Weatherford has previously been awarded the production riser installation for this project. All risers will be installed using Weatherford’s 21”- 300,000 ft. lb. production riser tongs, and the Stabberless System; a hazard reducing means of running casing and tubing that reduces costs and increases safety.
