Jordanian gas transmission pipeline
Posted: 29 July 2004
Construction can start on the Jordanian Gas Transmission Pipeline, following financial close on this landmark project. Financial close marks a critical stage, securing funding for a project designed to bring much-needed natural gas from Egypt to power stations and industrial customers in Jordan by 2006. Charles River Associates (CRA), an international economics, finance, and business consulting firm, has been instrumental in the financial development of this project.
The Ministry of Energy of Jordan retained CRA as project commercial consultant to help the Ministry identify and attract international developers and investors to the pipeline project. CRA outlined the criteria for selecting bids from construction companies, drafted, negotiated the financial terms for the project, and worked to ensure that project investors and the Jordanian Government received a high return on their investment.
CRA experts involved with the Jordanian Gas Transportation Pipeline Project are available to discuss the project as well as some of the resulting economic and environmental benefits that are likely to accrue to the people of Egypt, Jordan and ultimately, Syria, Lebanon and Europe.
This ( U.S.)$300 million pipeline will transport gas north from Aqaba to Rehab, near the Syrian border. It builds onto the ( U.S.)$250 million pipeline commissioned in July 2003 to bring gas from El-Arish in Egypt to Aqaba. Together these mark the first steps in an initiative to establish a regional gas market across Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon under an Arab Gas Pipeline network.
