Latest release introduces variable dynamics to the control market
AUSTIN, Texas – August 31, 2004 - Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in advanced process control (APC) and environmental compliance solutions, has released Version 7 of its APC software suite. The latest version of Pavilion’s world-class solution gives industry greater control over their process performance in the face of shrinking margins and growing customer demands. Process Perfecter version 7 allows manufacturers to reduce energy costs, get more capacity from existing assets and differentiate their products.
Version 7 offers new features that enhance the fidelity of the models, enhance sensor validation performance, and improve the ability to control and optimize multiple processes simultaneously. These features reduce project implementation time, reduce process variability, and deliver greater lifetime value.
“With Version 7, Pavilion continues its focus on improving its APC software suite,” said Tom Fiske, Senior Analyst ARC Advisory Group. “The new features broaden the applicability of Pavilion’s solution to both traditional markets like polymers and expanding markets like cement and commodity chemicals.”
Funded by a research grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), Process Perfecter 7, Pavilion’s flagship multivariable control solution, is the most robust solution available with the ability to execute precise control over processes with varying dynamics.
With this capability, Process Perfecter 7 delivers enhanced controller performance over a larger operating range with greater consistency in set-point transition. Additional enhancements include the use of first principle equations and operational knowledge in model development. This enables manufacturers to harness existing knowledge while quickly creating robust applications that provide greater control and efficiency than alternative solutions.
“Version 7 extends our leadership in the advanced control market and includes key innovations requested by our customers,” said Pavilion CEO Ralph Carter. “This release exemplifies our commitment to deliver products that improve our customer’s bottom-line.”
Pavilion’s Version 7 advanced process control solution delivers even more value by:
- Decreasing variable costs through reduced energy, reduced off-spec, and reduced downtime due to upsets;
- Increasing production through tighter control of a larger product mix, ability to control across more operating ranges; and
- Enhancing product quality through tighter control to product specification set-point.
Pavilion’s Version 7 key benefits and features include:
- Dataset Import Tools
- More than 50 enhancements have been made to improve the overall usability of the modeling environment, making it faster to build and deploy models.
- With new dataset importing tools, engineers can import and manipulate datasets and key control variables quickly and easily.
- Incorporation of Fundamental Knowledge into Empirical Models
- Version 7 incorporates existing first-principle equations and operational learning into the modeling environment. This capability reduces the time required to create a robust control solution. This feature leverages the value of existing knowledge to expedite model development and produce an application capable of providing control over an extended operating range while executing with the speed of an empirical model.
Greater Control and Efficiency:
- Variable Dynamics
- Variable dynamics is a key feature of Process Perfecter 7 and allows a controller to operate over a greater operating range than ever before and with greater consistency in set-point transition.
- Users can change key parameters in a running dynamic model, including gain, time delay, lead time and time constants.
- The result is more prime product produced and less off-spec material created during transitions.
Process Perfecter 7 is available immediately and supports the following platforms: Alpha Open VMS (version 6.2 or later), VAX VMS (version 6.2 or later), Sun Solaris™ (SunOS 5.5.1 or later), HP-UX (10.2 or later), Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP Pro (service pack 1).
