Halliburton technology significantly improves well completion efficiency

New completion system proven to reduce completion capital expenses, thereby maximizing project’s net present value.
Halliburton’s Energy Services Group (ESG) Production Optimization Division recently installed its new STPP-GH single-trip perf/pack completion system for Nexen Petroleum U.S.A., Inc., in the Gulf of Mexico.
“The STPP-GH completion system’s performance significantly improves completion efficiency for a production, injection or disposal well,” said Gary Godwin, vice president, Production Optimization Division.
Designed and developed to both perforate and provide FracPac service to a zone of interest in a single pipe trip, the STPP-GH completion system provides numerous safety and economic benefits. The benefits become even more profound as well parameters become more severe.
Use of the system eliminates a pipe trip out of the wellbore with the spent perforating assembly and a pipe trip into the wellbore with the FracPac tool assembly, thereby substantially reducing completion cycle time. The system also enhances well control safety by eliminating additional pipe trips and reducing the possibility for well control situations. In addition, the STPP-GH completion system enhances the target formation’s production potential through the significant reduction of exposure to the loss of completion fluid or the use of lost circulation pills. The system also improves wellbore debris management, especially in highly deviated, long reach well geometries.
The STPP-GH completion system has the potential to perforate very long intervals – 200 feet — and the capability to separate the FracPac assembly from the perforating operation.
