Posted: 9 September 2004

Erling Øverland, executive vice president for staffs and special projects at Statoil, has been appointed chair of the Borealis petrochemicals group from today, 9 September.

He has served as vice chair of the Copenhagen-based company, which is owned 50 per cent by Statoil, since 2001.

In accordance with the governance rules at Borealis, Mr Øverland is due to serve as chair for a three-year period.

He takes over from Gerhard Roiss, deputy chair of Austria’s OMV, who became Borealis chair on 20 September 2001 and will now serve as vice chair of the group.

The Borealis board also includes Finn R Kulås from Statoil and Mohamed Al Khaily from Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
