Hill & Associates expands Middle East operations

Hill & Associates (H&A), one of the world’s leading providers of security risk management services to the oil & gas industry, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Middle East regional operations.
Iliyas Campbell, Managing Consultant in Dubai says the expansion is symbolic of H&A’s confidence in the continued growth and investment in the region. “We have a long term strategy for our business in the Middle East as do our clients. We are here to support their investment strategies and protect their assets in what is a promising, yet still a potentially volatile region”
To support the expansion, H&A has brought in two new specialists and relocated another to the regional HQ. “Our team possesses the ideal combination of local knowledge and professional expertise – traits that are essential if you are to operate effectively in this region” said Mr. Campbell. The new appointments include risk management and protective security specialist Michael Da Costa, former US State Department advisor Hammad Gillani and highly experienced risk management and counter-terrorism consultant, Richard Hanock.
Michael da Costa served with both the British Army and the British Police Service. As a member of the British Army, Michael served in Rapid Reaction units as a Communications Specialist and Linguist. He deployed on Counter Insurgency, Humanitarian Support operations and NATO Special Forces exercises. During his service with the Police, his roles included General Police Duties, Inter Agency Liaison & Crisis Management, Public Order and Counter Narcotics Support operations.
Before joining Hill & Associates, he worked as both an independent consultant and an employee of reputable international Risk Management firms. His former clients include Fortune 100 Companies, Foreign Governments and NGO’s. In the Risk Management and Protective Security roles Michael successfully completed an array of tasks including Undercover Investigations/Surveillance, Close Protection Team leader role for a prominent diplomatic delegation, Managed Protective Programs for the CEO’s of several MNC’s, Crisis Management Planning & Response, Asset Recovery under hostile conditions and field Surveys of High Value Assets.
Michael has worked in over 25 countries, the majority of those being regarded as potentially complex or hostile for a variety of reasons either due to Political Instability, Organized Crime, Terrorism or a lack of reliable Logistical Support. Michael has deployed in support of clients to countries such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Trinidad and Yemen.
Hammad Gillani served for 7 years under the State Department within the US Consulate in Karachi. Hammad’s role as advisor and special investigator saw him attain numerous FBI and State Department awards for his professionalism and actions in high-risk areas. Hammad has also been involved in providing high-end security related trainings.
Hammad joined Hill & Associates Karachi branch office as a Consultant responsible for Risk Management and Protective Security for our client MNCs. His assignments have recently included a number of high-risk large-scale Protective Security details in Pakistan where he has been responsible for the coordination and management of security and contingency planning for a number of high-profile executives. Hammad also provides support across the Middle East as client engagements dictate.
His local, commercial and diplomatic security experience has been invaluable to clients when addressing critical security issues throughout Pakistan. Of equal importance is his extensive understanding of regional issues and various cultural sensitivities, which gives him a clear advantage when interacting with local and national security forces.
Richard Hancock, Senior Consultant and Director of Risk Management services at H&A adds additional weight to the Middle East team. A senior consultant with H&A since 1997, Richards expertise includes security risk management, counter-terrorism and protective security. He has served clients throughout Asia and the Middle East including many of the world’s largest oil & gas companies. From upstream exploration to downstream tanker fleets and refineries, Richard’s industry specific knowledge and expertise is an invaluable asset to H&A in the Middle East.
