Posted: 22 September 2004
Technip, through its UK affiliate Technip Offshore UK , has been awarded three contracts for field developments in the UK North Sea that represent a total value of over £40 million (€60 million). The oil and gas developments concerned are Pict and James , which are operated by Petro-Canada and Kerr-McGee respectively and Atlantic and Cromarty which are being jointly developed by BG Group and Amerada Hess.
-The BG Group / Amerada Hess Atlantic and Cromarty contract award involves the supply and installation of two control umbilicals, which are to be installed and trenched between the Cromarty well and the Atlantic manifold (12km) and the Atlantic manifold and the Goldeneye platform (31km). The scope also requires Technip to design and install a manifold at the Atlantic well site, and to complete all associated tie-ins and pre-commissioning.
- The Petro-Canada Pict contract award involves the design, manufacture and installation of an 18km 12” production pipeline piggybacked with a 4” gas lift pipeline, an 18km 6” gas lift pipeline and an 11.3km umbilical. Technip will also design and install a 100te manifold, which will be adjacent to the Pict wells. Further to this, the scope includes the completion of all associated tie-ins, testing and pre-commissioning.
- The Kerr-McGee James contract award involves the supply and installation of a 5.6km flexible flowline and the installation of a 5.6km umbilical that will be supplied by another Technip subsidiary, Duco. Technip will also perform all trenching and testing requirements. Fabrication of the flexible flowlines required for the Kerr-McGee James project will be undertaken by Flexi France , Technip’s manufacturing facility in Le Trait.
Offshore operations for the three projects will be undertaken by vessels from Technip’s fleet. First production is expected to be achieved on the BG Group Atlantic and Cromarty and Petro-Canada Pict projects in 2005. The Kerr-McGee James project is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2004.
The award of these three contracts by BG Group / Amerada Hess, Petro-Canada and Kerr-McGee gives Technip an opportunity to participate in the maximisation of the UK North Sea sector fields.
