Posted: 13 October 2004
A senior official at Mexican state oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) died last Thursday (October 7) after falling from the 12th floor at the company's headquarters here.
In a press release, Pemex said 54-year-old Carlos Fernando Marquez, who worked in the corporate administration department, was reported dead at 9 a.m. (1000 EDT, 1400 GMT). Marquez was executive coordinator at the department, one level below the company's administrative director. Pemex said the incident is being investigated by authorities. The government news agency Notimex said witnesses told police that Marquez had jumped.
