WesternGeco to Launch Fifth Q-Marine Seismic Vessel
Posted: 13 October 2004
WesternGeco has announced the addition of the Western Regent to its Q-Technology seismic vessel fleet.
The Regent will be the fifth vessel in the WesternGeco deepwater fleet to be equipped with Q-Technology, joining the Western Neptune, Geco Topaz, Western Pride and Geco Searcher. The Regent is scheduled for deployment in the first half of 2005.
All four Q-Marine vessels are currently working on exclusive contracts for clients, necessitating the addition of the Regent to the fleet. Recent Q-Marine contracts include a three-year commitment for the Western Neptune offshore Mexico, an agreement to acquire and process Q-Marine seismic data over the massive Marlim complex offshore Brazil, and two Q surveys offshore India.
"Q-Marine technology has set new standards for the seismic industry. Q-Marine uses calibrated sensors, calibrated sources, calibrated positions and steerable streamers to deliver exceptional image quality and repeatability, as is evidenced by the recent award of long-term reservoir monitoring contracts in the Norwegian Sea," said Dalton Boutte, president, WesternGeco.
Q is the WesternGeco proprietary suite of advanced seismic technologies for enhanced reservoir location, description, and management.
