ExxonMobil Chemical at K 2004

Posted: 20 October 2004

ExxonMobil Chemical will present its solutions-based approach which is founded on its global capability in technology, supply and service and one of the most comprehensive product portfolios in the industry in Hall 6, Stand Number D11 at K 2004 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

The organization will demonstrate how a wide range of end-use markets such as packaging, automotive, non-woven fabrics, electrical, medical, and consumer products are benefiting from this approach. The company will feature a product portfolio that includes polyethylene, polypropylene, specialty copolymers, ethylene elastomers and metallocene catalyzed products. In particular, new initiatives and developments will be highlighted.

In Packaging, the first of a new family of Nexxstar resin formulations set to reshape end-of-line packaging is on display. Novel Nexxstar resin formulated stretch hood packaging solutions represent a major step change within the industry. Two new low gel grades of Exceed mLLDPE which are ideal for high quality lamination and converter film will be highlighted. Another new development on display is ExxonMobil PP5122E1 that benefits European packaging manufacturers. This clear alternative for sheet and thermoforming applications offers the solution of high transparency. ExxonMobil Chemical HDPE HTA108 that improves stiffness and barrier properties when down-gauging film structures will also be featured.

In Medical and Personal Care new Vistamaxx specialty elastomers high melt-flow-rate grades will be introduced. These grades are designed to meet the needs of nonwovens converters using melt-blown technology. Vistamaxx is a revolutionary product platform derived from the company's Exxpol metallocene catalyst technology and polymerization processes.

In Automotive, the innovatively-engineered Exxtral PP solutions recently unveiled in the new Citroën C4, Peugeot 1007 and Peugeot 407 will be featured as will new developments in Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizates (TVP) for weatherseals, corner moldings, slip coat and interior applications.

In Electrical, low lead Santoprene TPV grades will be highlighted, as will a new PE resin for medium voltage wire and cable insulation and a new PE resin for wire and cable applications that ExxonMobil Chemical introduced earlier this year.

The company's solutions-based approach in other market sectors will also be demonstrated.

With a new metallocene ethylene elastomers plant unveiled earlier this year at Baton Rouge , Louisiana , the organization will highlight its state-of-the-art technology, flexible multi-product platform and global supply. And, ExxonMobil’s commitment to growing its global supply capability to meet customer demand will be further highlighted with the recent acquisition of Basell's shares in the Compagnie Industrielle des Polyéthylènes de Normandie (CIPEN) plant in Notre Dame de Gravenchon, France. The plant manufactures linear low density polyethylene resins.
