Altra Energy International expansion with two major contracts

Aberdeen-based engineering consultancy to the oil and gas industry, Altra Energy Limited, has enhanced its international presence by securing two contracts worth £400,000 in Algeria and Kazakhstan .
The company, based in Albyn Terrace, has agreed a deal with SonaHess to provide process engineering services for the phase 2 Miscible Gas Flood Project, to enhance oil recovery from several producing oil fields near Hassi Messaoud, central Algeria . It is expected to run to 2006. This work follows on the successful completion of a six figure contract that provided specialist Safety and Operational Process support to the Phase 1 Project.
Altra has also been commissioned to provide assistance with performance trials on the KPC gas plant, owned by the Karachaganak Petroleum Operator (KPO) consortium in Northern Kazakhstan . The is the latest work on the Kazakhstan plant by Altra and follows the successful completion of a six figure contract for similar services which finished late last year.
Altra’s International Director Steve Duvall said: “These two contracts effectively demonstrate our core business – process engineering support – and are in two areas which we see as key to our ongoing programme of international expansion.
“Our contract with SonaHess marks our first major venture into Algeria , and the country will play a significant part in our business plans for the foreseeable future. By contrast, we have already established ourselves in Kazakhstan with the successful completion of several projects, and our work with KPO reaffirms our commitment there.
“We see both contracts as springboards to build on old relationships in Kazakhstan and new ones in Algeria with the hope of attracting more work in both countries in future.”
