Posted: 03 November 2004
OMV, the leading oil and gas group in Central Europe, has increased its production in the North Sea by 2,600 boe/d. OMV (U.K.) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of OMV, has seen first oil from the Howe Field. The field lies in Block 22/12a in the Central Graben sector of the North Sea, close to the producing Nelson and Forties Fields. OMV has a 20% stake in the Howe Field which is operated by Shell. Howe is expected to start with a plateau production rate of around 13,000 boe/d of which OMV has around 2,600 boe/d. With Howe on stream OMV’s average oil and gas production increases to about 17,000 boe/d.
Helmut Langanger, OMV Executive Board member responsible for Exploration and Production stated "We are delighted at first oil from the Howe Field. The project has been achieved in an optimum time-frame. Following the successful appraisal of the Howe discovery in 2001, the partnership has worked with good co-operation and high expertise to achieve first oil in a timely manner. This is once again good news from the UK , where we want to continue to expand our portfolio.”
