Lee Pilling appointed HSE manager
BJ Process and Pipeline Services has appointed Lee Pilling health, safety & environment manager. He is responsible for global HSE direction, implementation and development of HSE programmes for the division. More specifically, Pilling plays an instrumental role in the redesigning, improvement and expansion of company HSE standards for all PPS facilities and operational activities. A number of key projects going forward include the continuing improvement in practical safety standards, and the global alignment and consolidation of several database management systems in order to streamline and make them more user-friendly.
In 1993 Pilling joined BJ Comtec in Aberdeen as a technical engineer, combining office engineering and technical support duties with field operations. He was promoted to the position of region quality engineer in 1996, following the acquisition of Nowsco by BJ Services. In 1999, he was appointed BJ PPS technical sales engineer based in Leeds, England, where he was a member of the team responsible for overseeing coal mining, offshore and petrochemical sales on behalf of the division. Prior to his promotion, he had been serving as the base manager for the BJ base in Aberdeen since 2001. During this period, significant health and safety initiatives took the multi-million pound facility to new groundbreaking standards.
Pilling, 39, is a native of Bolton, England and a former coal mining engineer. He is studying for a Master’s Degree in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Management at the University of Portsmouth. He is based at the BJ PPS global headquarters in Aberdeen and reports directly to Lindsay Link, general manager of BJ PPS .
