Varco Drilling triumphs at first Pipeline-Landmark Golf Tournament
Dubai’s Varco Drilling Equipment took the team competition at the first Pipeline- Landmark Golf Tournament, after mastering the Desert Course at Dubai’s Arabian Ranches.
Team JMH FZCO came in second, while E-Tech Dubai finished third. The sell-out event attracted 112 players in 28 teams.
The event also saw its first hole-in-one on the Par 3 17th by Craig Pelkey, who by default won the “nearest to the pin” challenge. Other prize winners included Dennis Burkett, who won the “longest drive” competition for the 5th hole, Mitch Ingram, who hit the “longest shot” on the 11th and Paddy McGrath, who won the other nearest to the pin prize on the 7th hole.
“This first Pipeline Landmark Golf Tournament received such strong interest and enjoyed such success, that we are planning to extend next year’s event to cover the whole day,” explained Elieen Michael Publisher, Pipeline Magazine – the Middle East’s premier English monthly publication for the Pan Arab energy industry. “This will now become one of the key annual networking events for the energy sector and we envisage ever larger numbers of players competing for what is clearly a coveted trophy.”
A raffle draw was also held at the event, where Sinobu Takashim won a Qatar Airways air ticket to fly to any destination on Qatar Airways’ network and G. Powell won a full software suite from Microsoft.
