Expansion of North Sea companies in region
Posted: 22 December 2004
Legal and commercial consultancy Hugh Fraser International have joined forces with two respected oil and gas industry professionals to source expansion opportunities for North Sea companies in the Middle East.
Well services specialist Tim Eley and well support expert Ahmed Al Mashgari will work as consultants for HFI’s Ventures International support service.
Ventures International has a strong track record in identifying growth opportunities for innovative and dynamic oil and gas related firms and provides a bridgehead for exporting North Sea skills and technologies to Middle East countries.
The integrated service provides support to companies embarking on internationalisation projects, including opportunity identification, local partner vetting and selection, contracts and legal compliance and implementation support.
Mr Eley is a past chairman of the International Coiled Tubing Association and has more than 25 years experience working in senior positions for well services companies, including BJ, Baker Hughes, Transocean, Schlumberger and PSL Energy Services.
Mr Al Mashgari has built up extensive contacts in the Middle East during a 22 year career in the oil and gas industry and is a specialist in submersible pump systems. He has held senior positions with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Schlumberger and Wood Group.
Mr Eley said: “There are a large number of North Sea companies who would reap significant returns with expansion in to the Middle East because they can provide unique skills, services or products which are in great demand in the region.
“Many small to medium SME’s fully recognise the huge benefits of internationalisation but are deterred from going down that route because of the strain on manpower resources. Ventures International has the resources and commercial contacts to ensure a stress free and cost effective market entry to the Middle East.”
Mr Al Mashgari added: “My role with Ventures International is to pinpoint realistic sales opportunities for ambitious North Seas companies who want to embark on overseas initiatives and to facilitate their expansion in to these lucrative markets.”
HFI’s managing partner, Hugh Fraser, said: “Both Tim and Ahmed have excellent contacts across the international well services sector and are a great addition to our Ventures International team.
“Tim Eley has a strong track record in identifying, analyzing and developing market opportunities and working with joint ventures and alliances, which is ideally suited to the objectives of Ventures International and our clients.
“I am also delighted to welcome Ahmed to the Ventures International team and through his past associations with the likes of Wood Group and ADCO, he brings with him an excellent network of contacts in the Arabian Gulf oil and gas industries.”
