Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas inaugurates RasGas stand at Petrotech 2005

As a leading player in Qatar ’s energy sector and to further promote the benefits of environmentally conscious LNG, RasGas actively participates and supports regional and international oil and gas conferences and exhibitions.
At the opening day of Petrotech 2005 Conference and Exhibition, held in New Delhi, India, RasGas Company Limited were extended a great honour when Mani Shankar Aiyer, the Honourable Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas formally inaugurated the RasGas exhibition stand.
The Minister, accompanied by Ecaudor’s Honourable Minister of Energy and Mines Eduardo Lopez Robayo, walked through a traditional Qatari door, a feature of the stand design, to formally inaugurate the RasGas stand.
Visitors to the stand, including many world wide, high-ranking energy officials commented on the artistic depiction of traditional Qatari life through the use of traditional Qatari doors to welcome guests and the inclusion of a replica wind tower within the exhibition stand. Qatari musicians also welcomed guests to the stand to sample and enjoy traditional Arabic coffee.
The RasGas stand, designed to encompass all aspects of Qatari heritage and culture received great praise for its innovative use of Qatari architecture and music.
In addition to RasGas Managing Director Jerry J. Wolahan, speakers at the event included India ’s Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar and Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal. Around 2700 delegates, including 300 foreign participants from 32 countries are expected to attend the conference during the five days.
