Expro Welcomes Chinese Delegation

Posted: 04 April 2005

Senior personnel from leading oilfield service company Expro International Group PLC (“Expro Group” or “Expro”) welcomed a five-man delegation from the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) at its Aberdeen facility recently.

The party, led by  Mr Luo Guoying, vice director of CNOOC’s Tianjin branch, visited the company to learn more about its latest technologies, including the award-winning Cableless Telemetry System (CaTS™),  StimTube TM perforating technology and production optimisation techniques. They also toured Expro’s purpose-built subsea workshop.

CaTS™ is a revolutionary development in the field of reservoir monitoring and control that allows real-time information to be transmitted from downhole without the use of cabling or wireline in the well.  Its two-way transmission capability enables the remote control of downhole instrumentation, opening the path to the radical redesign of downhole completions.

StimTube TM is an oxidiser-based tool for reservoir stimulation.  It is particularly effective in situations where the production rate of a well has significantly declined over time from its initial flow rate.

Expro has had a presence in China for more than 20 years and has bases in Beijing , Shekhou and Tanggu. The company provides a range of its cased hole and subsea services to key clients in the South China Sea and Bohai Bay , China ’s main offshore production areas.. Increasingly, Expro is providing its higher value services, such as StimGun TM perforating technology to assist operators in increasing production from both newly developed and existing production fields.

Mike Moxey, business development manager for Expro Group’s Africa/Asia/Middle East region said: “CNOOC is an important client for Expro in China . We were delighted to welcome Mr Luo Guoying and his colleagues to Aberdeen , which we believe will result in an even closer partnership in future.”
