Oil and gas services company PSL Energy Services Ltd have won a major BP federal contract to provide coil tubing and pumping services.

The three year contract, with options, covers BP’s Miller assets in the central North Sea and the Wytch Farm facility in Dorset and could be worth an estimated £6 million.

PSL operate one of the largest and most advanced coil tubing fleets in the North Sea and the BP contract win comes on the back of a recent £5 million investment in state of the art well services equipment.

The Aberdeen company have been providing coil tubing services for more than 10 years in the UK , Danish and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea and also in South America and the Middle East .

With a pool of more than 100 coil tubing supervisors, specialists, operators and engineering support staff, PSL have one of the most experienced and competent well interventions teams in the industry today.

PSL’s UK operations manager, Martin Ellins, said: “This contract is of considerable strategic importance to PSL and is a vote of confidence in our recent investment in equipment and processes which will enable us to deliver the level of service critical to BP’s business needs.

“Without doubt, our top quartile HSE performance and investment in new coil tubing and pumping equipment, technologies and infrastructure, have contributed to winning this award.

“We now have one of the largest, most efficient and technologically superior coil tubing divisions in Europe and this strengthens our ability to perform turnkey projects in a variety of challenging environments.”

The Portlethen-based firm has also been awarded a significant scope of work by Nexen Petroleum UK on the Buzzard field development.

The work scope includes flange management and nitrogen/helium leak testing of the central production complex located in the central North Sea . Pre-engineering work has already commenced and is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2006.

The work will be undertaken from both PSL’s Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth operational bases.
