Posted: 25 April 2005

Saudi Aramco has again expanded the Kingdom's hydrocarbon wealth with the discovery of a new field capable of producing Arabian Super Light oil in the Central Region, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali I. Al-Naimi announced.

The oil was discovered on April 11, 2005 , at Du'ayban-1, a new well about 125 kilometers southeast of Riyadh .

The well will produce 3,300 barrels per day of Arabian Super Light oil rated at 41 degrees, according to American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.

The oil is free of sulfur and was found at a depth of 10,260 feet. The oil is accompanied by three million cubic feet of gas per day, Al-Naimi said.

Abd Allah S. Al-Saif, senior vice president of Exploration and Producing, praised the engineers and crews of Exploration Organization for the find and encouraged Saudi Aramco employees to keep up the good work in searching out the natural bounty of the Kingdom.
