Posted: 25 April 2005
Morocco has granted onshore oil drilling licences to two US companies -- Direct Petroleum Morocco and Anschutz Morocco Corporation -- to conduct evaluation of the oil potential in the Moroccan region of Asilah-Tissa.
The contract between the Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) and the two companies gives to the two firms the exclusive drilling authorisation in the onshore Asilah-Tissa region, a 12,386 sq km-wide area located in northern Morocco.
The 12-month contract also includes various specific studies.
