Further SNS Responsibility for Petrofac
Posted: 23 May 2005
Petrofac has announced that following the purchase by Tullow Oil Plc (Tullow) of Shell’s equity in the Schooner and Ketch fields, it has negotiated an addition to its service operating relationship with Tullow to manage the two normally unattended installations (NUI) associated with the gas production from these fields.
Schooner and Ketch have been in production since 1996 and 1999 respectively and currently produce gas, which is transported to the Theddlethorpe terminal via the Caister-Murdoch System infrastructure.
This agreement builds on the responsibilities that Petrofac already has with Tullow for the management of the Hewett and Bacton facilities in the southern North Sea (SNS). The offshore Hewett installations, a central complex and three NUI, are tied back to the onshore Bacton gas terminal in East Anglia.
John Methven director of the operations management division within Petrofac said: “This additional responsibility demonstrates Tullow’s continuing confidence in Petrofac to manage its SNS operations. Petrofac’s strategic thinking has provided an operational solution which allows the management of a number of SNS NUI from a central staff pool. This further demonstrates that field infrastructure optimisation extends the life of mature gas fields in the southern sector.”
