3i Strengthens Oil & Gas Team

3i, Europe ’s leading venture capital and private equity company, has strengthened its oil and gas team with the appointment of Mark Kerr as an investment director.
Mark (38) joins 3i’s Aberdeen-based oil and gas team from the company’s Glasgow office. A qualified actuary and a mathematics and MBA graduate, Mark began his career with 3i in Aberdeen in 1996 and subsequently worked in both the Cambridge and Edinburgh offices.
During his time with 3i, Mark has worked on a number of significant oil and gas deals for 3i, including the £52 million creation of RBGltd following the merger of Rigblast Group Ltd, Fallsky Ltd (the holding company of Macgregor Energy Services Ltd (MESL) and Mach-Ten Offshore Ltd.
Mark said: “Over the last few years the oil and gas team has established a fantastic position both within 3i and across the European oil and gas sector. It has excellent growth opportunities in terms of its geographical investment base and other energy resources and I am looking forward to being part of that growth.
“In our recent report: “The Prospects for North Sea Oil and Gas”, we highlighted the fact that the higher oil price is creating a more buoyant market for the right companies. We have funded a quarter of all European oil and gas private equity deals in the last three years and we are looking to further enhance our position in the international market.”
