Advantica Releases Expanded Uptime Software Product

On the heels of growing international interest in its pipeline integrity management solution, Advantica proudly introduces its Uptime ® offering with new modules and streamlined functionality to better meet user needs.
Now organized in three versatile modules, Uptime’s comprehensive functionality allows gas and water utility companies to meet industry safety standards and regulations without sacrificing efficiency or cost-effective decision making.
“Uptime was launched in late 2003 to meet U.S. utilities’ regulatory pipeline integrity management needs with a focus on quantitative risk ranking,” said Tom Coolidge, Advantica Executive Vice President.

Central to the expanded application is the new Data Manager module, a data repository and management system that stores all pipeline integrity information. The repository can be used exclusively
as a data warehouse or can be integrated with existing databases, geographic information systems (GIS) or CAD systems. Users can also add to the data repository and integrate different or disparate data sources. The Data Manager organizes all pipeline integrity data, including centerline, facility, inspection,
repair history and right-of-way data. It also serves user storage, import, export and editing needs through its pipeline manager, asset information reporter, dynamic segmentation tool, alignment sheet generator, data alignment tool, data administrator and facilities editor decision support tools.
The Survey Manager module collates and presents data for field excavation preparation and allows users to query and evaluate in-line inspection ( ILI ) and direct assessment pipeline survey data. Users can employ the ILI data analysis tool for wall-loss, crack detection and geometry surveys and can build integrity reports for any location where defects or abnormalities are identified. The Risk Manager module houses all applications used for reliability-based calculations and analysis.
It uses a geospatial calculator to define high consequence areas (HCAs), stores and manages all risk calculations for complete auditability and offers risk-analysis tools for all nine threat categories affecting gas pipelines. The module includes threat assessment and risk management applications that may be customized to user needs.
Unlike other commercially-available pipeline integrity management solutions, Uptime uses a quantitative approach to risk assessment that addresses both the probability ranking of pipeline failure as well as the potential consequences. The solution operates on top of an ESRI ® -based GIS to help users improve their knowledge of pipeline conditions.
