Former Microsoft Cfo Named Oracle’s President

Gregory B. Maffei has joined the Oracle as President and will also assume the role of Chief Financial Officer in July. In addition to his responsibilities as CFO, Mr. Maffei will have responsibility for Oracle's legal department, human resources, manufacturing and distribution, and global real estate.

Mr. Maffei most recently served as Chairman and CEO of 360networks Corporation, a leading broadband provider serving the rural Western United States . He led the successful restructuring of the telecommunications company, which is now debt-free and free-cash-flow generating.
Mr. Maffei served as Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft Corporation from July 1997 to January 2000 where he also oversaw its $35 billion cash and strategic investment portfolio. During his CFO tenure, the company's market cap increased four-fold to nearly $600 billion and won two CFO Magazine Excellence Awards. Mr. Maffei joined Microsoft in 1993 and previously held a number of positions there, including Vice President of Corporate Development, Treasurer, and Director, Business Development & Investments. From 1999 to February 2002, Mr. Maffei also served as Chairman of Expedia, Inc. the Internet travel service, which Microsoft took public in November 1999.
Mr. Maffei, 45, has an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School , where he was a Baker Scholar, and an AB degree from Dartmouth College . He serves as a director of Electronic Arts Inc. and Starbucks Corporation.
